We are looking for ‘brave philanthropists’ to support our $3 million Choice Fund for Australians who are struggling to afford abortion and contraception.
We plan to use our tax-deductible gift recipient status to pay for pregnancy terminations and contraceptive services for people experiencing financial hardship who can’t pay for private clinics.
Our fund will provide coverage for transport and accommodation costs, particularly for people in rural and remote areas where services are scarcest.
We’re looking for pro-choice backers who are committed to universal access to reproductive services and addressing inequality in Australia’s healthcare system. Our priority is about giving people choices, people who are in unsupportive relationships, or who are experiencing violence, financial abuse, or reproductive coercion.
The average cost of a medical or surgical termination in Australia is $500.
For many Australians, this is large and unexpected cost – one that they don’t have time to save for given the time constraints of abortion.
The Choice Fund also supports people who are looking to access Long Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC).
Over 20% of our abortion clients choose to have a LARC method at the time of their termination. LARC methods are the most effective form of contraception and higher uptake in a population has been proven to reduce abortion rates.
