Home › IUD Offer: Pain Relief and Device Covered | MSI Australia

Know your options.
Own your future.

Expert, judgment-free contraception care from your first consult to years down the track.

We know it can hurt, and we know it shouldn’t have to.

For a lot of people, getting an IUD means bracing yourself for pain that’s often dismissed or downplayed. We take that seriously.

That’s why, from 1 October to 31 December, we’re covering the cost of pain relief (Penthrox, the green whistle) for eligible standalone IUD insertions.

And because the device itself is its own cost, we’d like to help there too. We’ll cover the cost of your device if you choose a Mirena or Kyleena.

What’s covered:

  • Your pain relief: Penthrox (the green whistle)
  • Your hormonal IUD device: Mirena or Kyleena

Your appointment and procedure fees still apply. This offer covers pain relief and device cost only, up to $80.

Are you eligible?

You’re eligible if you:

  • Hold a Medicare card
  • Have a standalone IUD insertion (not part of another procedure)
  • Have your appointment between 1 October and 31 December 2026

Not sure an IUD is right for you?

Whether you’re thinking about an IUD for contraception, heavy periods, perimenopause or something else, our team can talk you through your options and help you work out what suits you.

FAQs

I've booked for an appointment in January. Am I still eligible?

Unfortunately not. Eligibility is based on your appointment date, so your appointment needs to be on or before 31 December 2026.

Can I get the green whistle if I'm not getting a Mirena or Kyleena?

Yes. If you’re eligible, your pain relief is covered no matter which IUD you choose. The device cost is only covered for Mirena and Kyleena.

Will I still need to pay anything?

Yes. Your appointment and procedure fees still apply. Find information about our fees here

What other pain relief options are there?

We also offer local anaesthetic and IV sedation at some clinics. We’ll talk through what’s right for you before your appointment.

Why is the promotion ending on 31 of December 2026?

We are a not-for-profit and are funding this ourselves so unfortunately, we cannot run this promotion forever.

Do you offer interpreter services?

Yes, interpreter services are available at the time of your appointment. Please let us know at the time of booking that you will require this service. If you need one at any time before or after your procedure, you can call: TIS National on 131 450 and ask to be connected to us on 1300 207 382.
